Hello fellow adventurers,

As a new year begins, we often take a moment to reflect over the last, what were those pivotal moments of the year that have influenced our gaming journey? Do you remember a grand moment of victory? A laugh so hard your belly ached, or a memory so warm that you find yourself lost in it from time to time?

Well, today our team has reflected over our gaming experiences in the last year and are thrilled to share the games behind them! With that said, Let's dive right into it and share the Incredible Dream Team's favorite games from 2023?

A Table Top Spook!

What is your name? Cathy Bock (She/Her)
What is your job position and what do you do?
I am the Story Editor for Incredible Dream. I work on world building, writing, copyediting, as well as help with playtesting and game development.
What was your favorite game of 2023?
My favorite game of 2023 was Stifling Dark. It's a 1-vs-all hidden movement game about a killer terrorizing a group of amateur investigators. Investigators have to search in the dark for clues with only a flashlight to protect them and survive long enough to find the way out. The game is so thematic that I found myself actually frightened!

Hop On The Legacy Train!

What is your name? Jane Hoffacker (She/Her)
What is your job position and what do you do?
CEO. I cause trouble every day.
What was your favorite game of 2023?
Ticket to Rise Legacy has been such a treat. While we haven't finished it yet, I love being delighted every session with a new challenge and I feel like I'm gradually getting better at being a rail tycoon each time. It's really fun and full of wonderful craftsmanship.

Have To Find The Best Story!

What is your name? Ilya Ushakov (He/Him)
What is your job position and what do you do?
Marketing Manager. I'm the person you likely chat with! Always eager to share our studios work and experiences and to make your table top journey a little bit brighter!
What was your favorite game of 2023?
It's a close one for me but it has to be Fit to Print! Am I surprised a real time game is my favorite of the year? Yes, but let me tell you, this game is an absolute gem! It plays quick yet has so many strategy elements I love to see, with a fun thematic twist as well that will keep you coming back again and again!

Admiring From Afar!

What is your name? Ines Możdżyńska (They/Them)
What is your job position and what do you do?
I'm a Graphic Designer and I take care of all visual pieces of our board games outside of illustrations!
What was your favorite game of 2023?
"The Hidden Isle" by Sefirot Games. It's a wonderfully illustrated RPG played with tarot cards. I haven't been able to get my hands on it yet but I'm really hoping to be able to play it one day! I love the idea of using tarot cards instead of dice and I'm really intrigued by the world building, possible characters, and emphasis on storytelling within the game.

Revisiting The Past

What is your name? Zack Marsh (He/Him)
What is your job position and what do you do?
Product Designer; half engineer, half artist. I help translate a game's vision into the best-suited physical components while assisting with graphic design toward an elevated play experience.
What was your favorite game of 2023?
I'm simple and nostalgic, but also a thrill junkie and gorehound, so that would have to be the retelling of Dead Space. This IP is a blast from my past that combines two things I love; science fiction and horror.

A Nostalgic Adventure!

What is your name? Kevin Wilson (He/Him)
What is your job position and what do you do?
Director of Game Design - I come up with the game concepts and make the game mechanics.
What was your favorite game of 2023?
I re-visited an older videogame title, Phantasy Star, that I've really enjoyed. I played a lot of turn-based CRPGs as a kid, so it's been a nice bit of nostalgia for me, though I'm glad the version I picked up has an automapper - I'm not really up for drawing graph paper maps by hand these days.

Quality Family Time

What is your name? Rob Hunt (He/Him)
What is your job position and what do you do?
CFO - My role is Finance and Operations.
What was your favorite game of 2023?
While it is an older game, my kids and I have been having fun playing Hero Quest together this past year. The kids love the minis, so I bought a few expansions for us to play. Runner up: Exploding Kittens!

Kinfire Releases

Beyond that, this was such an exciting year for us as our first two games have began making their ways into your homes! Kinfire Chronicles: Night's Fall and Kinfire Delve: Vainglory's Grotto, the pride of our studio are now in retail and available for purchase. We're honored by the reception so far, and excited to share all that is to come for Kinfire and Incredible Dream in 2024!

With that said, what has been your favorite gaming experience from 2023? Did you have a favorite game? Was there one you wanted to learn more about?
